A five-piece band from Raleigh. We are new to blogging, but will be posting things about ourselves, new music, media, and things that we like. We would love if you listened to us at www.tincansailor.bandcamp.com

Tin Can Sounds. Just a couple sounds (new and old) we are trying to incorporate in the new album.

Jason Adouli.  Continuing with Tin Can Sailor’s “interview” series, the next person up is Jason Adouli, drummer extraordinaire.   Everyone knows that Adouli is the pulse behind the sensational songs we sing, but underneath those dark brown locks and that sensual olive skin is a mystery that few have unraveled.  Here are some questions to give you a closer look into the life of one of the hunks of TCS.
·      Where is your hometown?
Lewisville, NC
·      What was your major?
Business – Marketing
·      Who are your idols?
My dad, Michael Jordan, Steve Jordan
·      What is your favorite song right now?
“St Walker” – Young the Giant
·      What is your favorite TCS song to play?
Watchmaker
·      Do you have any other hobbies?
Basketball, Hanes underwear modeling
·      If you could play in any band, who would it be?
Selena Gomez & the Scene – if you have to ask, then you can’t understand
·      After music, what do you want to be?
Aspiring young professional and family man…. Like Nicholas Cage in the move Family Man. Tee Hee.
As always keep up with us on our Facebook and Twitter pages.  We have several shows coming up in the next month so we would love to see you guys around.  Cheers!

Holidays.  Hey fans, sorry it has been so long since our last post, but even during the relaxing holidays we have found ways to keep busy.  On Wednesday December 14, we played our first show in Durham at the Pinhook with our friends River City Ransom.  It was a cool, artsy place and we played to an intimate crowd that night.

Now that it is holiday break, we are spread all over the state enjoying some down time.  That doesn’t mean we won’t be able to squeeze one more concert in before the new year.  That’s right, Thursday December 29 we will be playing our first Charlotte show at the Evening Muse starting at 10 for only $5.  Matt’s close friend, and former bandmate, Amy Schiede will be playing a short acoustic set to open the night so make sure you get there in time to see her phenomenal talent.

If you are unable to make it out to the Charlotte show, we wish all of you a safe and happy New Year, and look forward to seeing you at a show in 2012.  As always keep up with us on our Facebook and Twitter to find out when and where we will be playing next.  Cheers!

Pour House.  November has become an extended stay for us at the Pour House in downtown Raleigh.  Two weeks into the month and we have already had two shows there, with one more to follow on December 1st.  We have had so much fun playing at such a great place, and we greatly appreciate you guys coming out in flocks to watch us.
Our first show there with Holy Ghost Tent Revival was packed from floor to ceiling.  It was so cool to play with one of North Carolina’s premier up and coming bands.  That show was probably our biggest show as a band and hopefully we will use it as a stepping stone towards bigger and better things.  The show last night was with Simplified and the feedback we got from the crowd made it seem like it was one of the better shows we have played this year.
Our show on Thursday December 1st is organized by another great local Raleigh band Clay Pigeons, and might be of our last show in Raleigh before the Holiday Break.  If those two aren’t reason to come out, it is also everyone’s favorite bass player Chris Lazarek’s birthday!  The cover is only $5, so we would like to cap off our last show in Raleigh with a huge crowd, and celebrate Chris’s birthday with all of our fans.
As always, we love you guys and really appreciate everything that you do for us.  Send us your thoughts, some inspiration, or any feedback at all to our Twitter or Facebook.  Photo Credit to Pam Nichols.  Cheers!

Apologies
Hey fans, sorry that we have been off of the map lately.  We have been very busy practicing for this monumental November that is ahead of us.  As some of you know, we were supposed to have a show last week in Chapel Hill.  Unfortunately there were complications that occurred at the last minute preventing us from putting on a great show.  We don’t know a lot of the detail from that night, but we have heard that one of the investors of Alphabet City fled the state without telling anyone.  We tried to book another venue to play at last minute, but since we weren’t notified until right before our show it was close to impossible to find a bar to host us.  Again, we are truly sorry about the last minute cancellation of our show, and if you want a personal apology feel free to email us your name at tincansailormusic@gmail.com and we will write you one.  But in the mean time, check out our calendar and plan your next trip to downtown Raleigh to see your favorite band.
Cheers,
Tin Can Sailor

Surprise!  As mentioned in prior posts, Tin Can Sailor is working on some new songs.  Well today is your lucky day, because we have a short recording of one of them.  The recording is not the best quality; it was taken on Chris’s iPhone, and it is not the full or finished version.  In fact, we have even made changes to it since recording this last week.  We just wanted to thank you guys for being such great fans. Who knows, if there is a good response to this song blog post it may turn into a weekly thing.  So on that note, enjoy the song and please make sure to let us know what you think about it by commenting or posting on Twitter or our Facebook page!

Friday.  Because it’s Friday, we figured we might as well have a fun post.  Today we will feature the albums that we are currently listening to.  You should check out this music, because it comes highly recommended by your favorite local band.  You can head to your local music store to pick it up, or give it a listen on Spotify (if you haven’t had a chance to check that out, it is definitely worth a download).  Here are our picks:

Matt Gilmore: Fruitbats - Tripper

Jason Adouli: Big Sean - Finally Famous

Kyle Jackson: The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient

Logan Draughn: Buke and Gass - Riposte

Chris Lazarek: Ben Rector - Something Like This

Hope this music can brighten up your day/week/life.  Let us know what you are listening to via twitter at @TinCanSailor

Cheers!

Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world and I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that.
- Steve Earle

Song Writing.  We are all working hard on writing new songs.  While it is fun to experiment, it is also hard to write at a quality that we are proud to call a Tin Can Sailor song.  We hold ourselves to a high standard, because we want you to hear great music.  We have a couple of songs in the works, so before you know it we will be in the studio recording another set of songs!

We played a new song at Tir Na Nog on Tuesday, and it felt pretty good.  We are going to pioneer that song, and hopefully it will be complete before the next batch of shows come around.  For now, keep enjoying our usual set live, and who knows, we may surprise you with part of a new one every now and then.
