A five-piece band from Raleigh. We are new to blogging, but will be posting things about ourselves, new music, media, and things that we like. We would love if you listened to us at www.tincansailor.bandcamp.com

Tin Can Sounds. Just a couple sounds (new and old) we are trying to incorporate in the new album.

Reform.  Lately we have been getting a lot of compliments about how we have rearranged the song Reform.  We really enjoy playing it, and are glad that people are happy to hear it in the set.  It is not on the free EP, but will be on the album when we record it in the near future.  This video was taken in mid February, when we played at the Pour House with Rubblebucket.  Hope you enjoy!

Jason Adouli.  Continuing with Tin Can Sailor’s “interview” series, the next person up is Jason Adouli, drummer extraordinaire.   Everyone knows that Adouli is the pulse behind the sensational songs we sing, but underneath those dark brown locks and that sensual olive skin is a mystery that few have unraveled.  Here are some questions to give you a closer look into the life of one of the hunks of TCS.
·      Where is your hometown?
Lewisville, NC
·      What was your major?
Business – Marketing
·      Who are your idols?
My dad, Michael Jordan, Steve Jordan
·      What is your favorite song right now?
“St Walker” – Young the Giant
·      What is your favorite TCS song to play?
Watchmaker
·      Do you have any other hobbies?
Basketball, Hanes underwear modeling
·      If you could play in any band, who would it be?
Selena Gomez & the Scene – if you have to ask, then you can’t understand
·      After music, what do you want to be?
Aspiring young professional and family man…. Like Nicholas Cage in the move Family Man. Tee Hee.
As always keep up with us on our Facebook and Twitter pages.  We have several shows coming up in the next month so we would love to see you guys around.  Cheers!

Update.  Last week was a slower week.  As we are getting into the full rotation of school, work, and other activities, we are trying to carve out as much Tin Can Sailor time as we can.  On Tuesday we had our second show of the season at Tir Na Nog; this time we played with another band called Crystal Bright & the Silver Hands.  They were a very interesting band from Greensboro, NC with a great sound.
Coming up this week, we are still trying to schedule some gigs for the fall season.  So if you know anyone who is trying to schedule a band, or events that would like a band to play, shoot us an email at TinCanSailorMusic@gmail.com.  Webmaster Kyle created a new website where you can listen and share some of our music, and we are recruiting you to spread the word.  The new site is at viinyl.com and has links to all of our other social media sites.  As always, keep up with our Facebook and Twitter for updates, and send us some comments on either site.  We love hearing from you guys!

Friday.  Because it’s Friday, we figured we might as well have a fun post.  Today we will feature the albums that we are currently listening to.  You should check out this music, because it comes highly recommended by your favorite local band.  You can head to your local music store to pick it up, or give it a listen on Spotify (if you haven’t had a chance to check that out, it is definitely worth a download).  Here are our picks:

Matt Gilmore: Fruitbats - Tripper

Jason Adouli: Big Sean - Finally Famous

Kyle Jackson: The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient

Logan Draughn: Buke and Gass - Riposte

Chris Lazarek: Ben Rector - Something Like This

Hope this music can brighten up your day/week/life.  Let us know what you are listening to via twitter at @TinCanSailor

Cheers!

Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world and I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that.
- Steve Earle

Song Writing.  We are all working hard on writing new songs.  While it is fun to experiment, it is also hard to write at a quality that we are proud to call a Tin Can Sailor song.  We hold ourselves to a high standard, because we want you to hear great music.  We have a couple of songs in the works, so before you know it we will be in the studio recording another set of songs!

We played a new song at Tir Na Nog on Tuesday, and it felt pretty good.  We are going to pioneer that song, and hopefully it will be complete before the next batch of shows come around.  For now, keep enjoying our usual set live, and who knows, we may surprise you with part of a new one every now and then.

Shows thus far.  We have had a great time playing the couple of shows that we have played so far this season.  We have played two great shows at Tir Na Nog, and an acoustic set at Busy Bee during Hopscotch.  If you haven’t had the chance to see us live yet, keep up with our Facebook and Twitter pages to see when and where we will be playing next.

On a side note, congratulations to our fine city of Raleigh for being named the #1 city in the US (and probably top 5 in the universe)!  We love calling Raleigh our home, and we get to share it with a wealth of great local bands.  If you are not into the local music scene yet, it is not hard to find your way.  Head downtown to one of Raleigh’s 100+ bars and check out who is playing.

First Post!  Thanks for tuning in.  Hopefully this will be a regular blog where you can keep track of what our band is doing.  For now, all you should know is that we are planning out our shows for this coming season.  If you know of any bands/promoters/venues that would like to have us play for or with them, shoot us an email at tincansailormusic@gmail.com, and we would greatly appreciate it.  For now, just keep listening to the EP, and expect to hear some new music soon!
Cheers,
Tin Can Sailor
